Kate Bush came from a musical family. Her mother was a former Irish folk dancer, her father was a talented pianist, her one brother was an instrument maker, her other brother was a poet and photographer, and both brothers were active in the local music scene. As a child, Kate Bush learned piano and violin and played the organ in the barn behind their parents' house. And as a teenager, she started writing her own songs. A family friend Ricky Hopper heard her songs and introduced her to guitarist in Pink Floyd, David Gilmour. Gilmour arranged for Kate Bush by 15-year-old had recorded a demo that was produced by his friend Andrew Powell, who later became a producer at Kate Bush's first two albums.
